Borehole Geophysical Logging
Our MX Series winch holds 700 meters of single conductor cable, and most applications in the environmental, geotechnical and water supply fields are within reach.  In addition, the winch and other logging equipment are semi-portable and can be run with power from a small generator, allowing access over difficult terrain or to remote locations. Princeton Geoscience utilizes MSI’s time-tested Poly-Series logging probes.  We own and have received MSI training in the use of probes for logging the following parameters of common interest in environmental and water supply investigations:  Caliper (3-arm), Natural Gamma, Spontaneous Potential, Normal Resistivity (8”-16”-32”-64”), Single Point Resistance, Fluid Resistivity, Fluid Temperature, Heat-Pulse Flowmeter.   Also, we have access to equipment needed to acquire acoustic- and optical televiewer, induction and other specialized logs, via rental from MSI and several equipment rental vendors.  We collaborate with another geophysical logging contractor, when necessary to complement our in-house experience.

Borehole Logging
Wireline Workshop tooling is all state-of-the art with, for instance, very high resolution Acoustic and Optical televiewers. Final products are calibrated and crafted to represent the sought after mineral or rock mass in the best possible way. Potash and uranium deposits are calibrated in KCl percentage and UPPM respectively and blocked zones are averaged using the "area under the curve" method to remove shoulder effects. The new fibre optic north-seeking gyro sonde has major advantage over traditional surface reference designs. Each measurement is real and unique, not relying on drift correction and closure. A single measurement can be made if required.

CCTV Borehole Inspections
hrough our many years of experience servicing the industry, the importance of mobile, robust and high quality CCTV camera equipment has become apparent. Whether the requirement is for bore diagnostics, fishing, installation, or to verify construction details, a clear video is crucial in order to proceed with confidence. With a lack of adequate off the shelf units available, AGE has set about developing a fleet of fully equipped, purpose built camera vehicles and other transportable units. We currently have 7 such vehicles and 3 transportable units strategically stationed around Australia to service any industry. In addition to our custom built units, we also have 14 hand-held units available for wet or dry hire.

down-hole video camera services
down-hole video camera services with digital video and audio recording capabilities. The camera has both down and side viewing lenses with independent light sources. The probe and attaching hardware are fully sealed stainless steel and can be submerged in ground water and acid mine drainage. The camera orientation can be determined to locate true positions of features observed in the borehole. A custom centralizing assembly allows for viewing in holes of any inclination. SGS also has a full video editing capability to convert the video into CD or DVD viewing formats. Specifications:
  • Tape format: Digital 8mm
  • Imaging:          full color
  • Probe Diameter:    62mm
  • Minimum borehole diameter:     2.9 in*
  • Focusing distance:       0.5 in to infinity
  • Centralizing Range:     3 in to 8 in diameters
  • Depth Capability:        100 ft (-45º to +45º)

Electric Logging
Electric logging uses the marked differences in electrical properties between fine-grained sediments (shale, clay, and silt) and coarser-grained material (sandstone, sand, and gravel), to identify stratigraphic units from logs of electrical resistivity and natural electric potentials. Electric logging encompasses a number of specific techniques, including single-point resistance, spontaneous potential (SP), resistivity, and electromagnetic induction (EM). Single-point resistance simply involves measuring the bulk resistance between a surface electrode and the downhole probe

Inspection Services

We provide high resolution video surveys of dry or water filled boreholes with diameters as small as 2.5 in (63.5 mm) and to a maximum depth of 1000 ft (300 m). During the video surveying of a borehole, the depth is continuously displayed so notes on borehole conditions can be recorded. Also, the camera can be toggled from a down-the-hole view to a side-view, with the high intensity LEDs, so significant changes in the borehole can be recorded. The side-view camera has continuous 360 degree rotation to clearly record the full perimeter of the borehole.

Inspections of boreholes

We provide the inspection of the borehole shaft using colour optical camera which is suitable to the maximum depth of 700 m. Due to its small diameter, the camera can easily pass also through damaged sections of boreholes.

The camera can provide side and downward view of the borehole. In addition, a motorized unit can provide side panoramic view with an overlap (400 degrees in total). Compass-oriented combination of the side and downward view provide perfectly localised and perspective visualization of the borehole walls.

Mudlogging
A dedicated team will follow a well from logging depth to TD and stay with a rig if it moves to a new location for the same company and geologist. Our loggers have many years of experience logging both verticals and horizontals in all major potential pay zones. Over 80% of our wells in the past 10 years have been horizontals. We target degreed geologists and seasoned mud loggers when adding to our team. Extensive, ongoing training is provided in all aspects of rig operation, the use of all mud logging equipment, and in detailed sample analysis. Apprentice loggers are assigned to a mentor until they master the nuances of logging excellence. All loggers are required to communicate fully with geologists running the well and to provide daily reports and logs at requested frequency and formats. It is also important that they communicate with all rig personnel to provide critical information and to keep their finger on the pulse of day to day operations. Despite the fact that our logs are highly customizable based on operator desires, loggers are required to follow strict protocols regarding mudlog appearance and content. Vertical and horizontal logs are tailored to your needs and can be in various sizes and formats. Logs are checked each morning by supervisors to ensure that they meet standards. Service technicians are on call 24 hours a day to minimize downtime due to equipment failures. We do everything possible to provide the highest quality service to our clients.

Pipe Inspection
Tri-Star Pipe Inspection provides inspection services in pipes ranging from 1 ½” to 72”. With over 11 years experience in underground pipe video inspections, we offer qualified and competent technicians along with top of the line equipment for all of your sanitary or storm sewer inspections. We have a number of sondes to pinpoint locate any problems we may find and give an accurate depth. Our Envirosight mainline system has a 6” steerable crawler to inspect lines 6”-12” and a larger steerable crawler to inspect lines up to 72” in diameter and runs up to 660 feet. We have the capability of placing a camera into a storm collection box and driving into the main and turning to run upstream or downstream. The camera has a 360° pan and tilt feature and can zoom up to 100 feet downline. The crawler has an inclinometer to measure the percent of grade in the pipe. We have a number of wheel combinations to inspect various types and conditions of pipe. We employ Wincan software for our inspections and provide a DVD and printed reports on site.
